Our bees are the most important part of our vegetable production. The bees are the Saskatraz breed, known for mite resistance and honey production. They pollinate all our produce. We don't use any varroa mite treatments and are slowly creating a naturally immune apiary. We harvest one time in the fall, creating a unique flavor mix of all spring, summer, and fall flowers. The main flowers include alfalfa, sagebrush, rabbitbrush and all our produce. The honey is heated just enough to spin it and bottle it.
Our produce in grown as natural as possible. We only grow open pollinated or heirloom varieties, with the exception of one F1 hybrid cantaloupe variety. We do not use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. We use compost from our animals and compost tea to fertilize our crops.
